Parish Statistics Explained

This topic lists the categories of data tracked in the Parish Statistics report and explains how the numbers in each category are calculated.


 

 

Category

Requirements

Households

 

To be defined as a household, a record must meet these requirements:

  • The family has a record in the database of the organization you are working in.

  • The family record was not deleted (the value in the Date Closed field is NULL).

Date Closed is a field in a database table. When the user deletes a member or a family, the system enters the date of the deletion in this field.  

 

Additional Requirements and Criteria for Households

Registered

A record is counted as Registered if the following are true:

  • It meets the requirements for Households.

  • The Registration Status field in the family's record is set to 1 (the Registration Status checkbox is selected in Family Details).

Unregistered

A record is counted as Unregistered if the following are true:

  • It meets the requirements for Households.

  • The Registration Status field in the family's record is set to 0 (the Registration Status checkbox is not selected in Family Details).

Not Specified

A record is counted as Not Specified if the following are true:

  • It meets the requirements for Households.

  • The Registration Status field in the family's record is set to NULL.

Total Households

A total count of the households in these categories:

  • Registered

  • Unregistered

  • Not Specified

Households without children

To be defined as a household without children, a record must meet these requirements:

  • The family has a record (regardless of registration status) in your organization's database.

  • The member is alive (the Status field in Member Details is not set to Deceased).

  • The member was not deleted from the database (the value in the Date Closed field is NULL).

Date Closed is a field in a database table. When the user deletes a member or a family, the system enters the date of the deletion in this field.

 

Additional Requirements and Criteria for Households Without Children

Single

A record is counted in the Single household category if all of the following are true:

  • It meets the requirements for Households without children

  • The family record contains only one member.

  • The member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family contains no children. In other words, no member in the family has a role set to any of the following:

  • Daughter

  • Foster Daughter

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

  • Grandson

  • Son

  • Step Daughter

  • Step Son

  • Stepchild

Catholic Couples

A record is counted in the Catholic Couples category if all of the following are true:

  • It meets the requirements for Households without children.

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Male and whose role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Female and whose role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family record contains no child members. In other words, no member in the family has a role set to any of the following:

  • Daughter

  • Foster Daughter

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

  • Grandson

  • Son

  • Step Daughter

  • Step Son

  • Stepchild

  • All family members are Catholic (the Religion field in each individual's Member Details record is set to Catholic).

Interfaith Couples

A record is counted in the Interfaith Couples category if all of the following are true:

  • It meets the requirements for Households without children. 

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Male.

  • The male member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Female.

  • The female member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family record contains no child members. In other words, no member in the family has a role set to any of the following:

  • Daughter

  • Foster Daughter

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

  • Grandson

  • Son

  • Step Daughter

  • Step Son

  • Stepchild

  • At least one family member is not Catholic (the Religion field in at least one individual's Member Details record is set to a religion other than Catholic).

Members

An individual is counted in the Members category if all of the following are true:

  • The member has a record in your organization’s database.

  • The member is alive (the Status field in Member Details is not set to Deceased).

  • The member was not deleted from the database (the value in the Date Closed field is NULL).

Additional Requirements and Criteria for Persons

Children (0 - 17)

To count as person in the Children (0 – 17) category, the person’s age must be between 0 and 17 years.

Boys

A boy is defined as follows:

  • A member who is a child.

  • A member whose gender is set to Male.

  • A member whose role is set to one of the following:

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Grandson

  • Son

  • Step Son

  • Stepchild

Girls

A girl is defined as follows:

  • A member who is a child.

  • A member whose gender is set to Female.

  • A member whose role is set to one of the following:

  • Daughter

  • Foster Daughter

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

  • Step Daughter

  • Stepchild

Not Specified

To count as a person in the Not Specified category, the person must be:

A member who is a child.

A member whose gender is set to Unknown.

Total Children

A total count of children in the following categories:

Total Souls

 

 

Male

A male is defined as follows: a member whose gender is set to Male.  

Female

A female is defined as follows: a member whose gender is set to Female.

Not Specified

This category counts members whose gender is set to Unknown.

Total Souls

A total count of the individuals in these categories:

Households with children

A record is included in this category if all of the following are true:

·    The family has a record (regardless of registration status) in your database.

·    The member is alive (the Status field in Member Details is not set to Deceased).

·    The member was not deleted from the database (the value in the Date Closed field is NULL).

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

Catholic Couples

A record is counted in the Catholic Couples category if it meets the requirements for Households with children plus the following are true: 

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Male.

  • The male member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Female.

  • The female member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family has children. In other words, the family contains at least one member whose role is set to the following:

  • Daughter

  • Foster Daughter

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

  • Grandson

  • Son

  • Step Daughter

  • Step Son

  • Stepchild

  • All family members identify their religion as Catholic (the Religion field in each individual’s Member Details record is set to Catholic).

Interfaith Couples

A record is counted in the Interfaith Couples category if it meets the requirements for Households with children plus the following are true: 

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Male.

  • The male member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family record contains a member whose gender is set to Female.

  • The female member’s role is set to one of the following: Head, Husband, or Wife.

  • The family has children. In other words, the family contains at least one member whose role is set to the following:

  • Daughter

  • Foster Daughter

  • Foster Son

  • Grandchild

  • Granddaughter

  • Grandson

  • Son

  • Step Daughter

  • Step Son

  • Stepchild

  • The family contains at least one family whose religion is not Catholic (the Religion field in at least one individual’s Member Details record is set to a religion other than Catholic or the religion is not defined (NULL).
