You may find records in a grid easier to view and work with if they are sorted the way you want. This topic shows you how to sort records in a grid based on the information in a column.
Many of the grids in ParishSOFT Family Directory contain sortable column headers. Sortable column headers enable you to sort records in a grid the way you want. Sometimes, you want to sort by last name, envelope number, or Member DUID. Simply, click the desired column header, and the information in the grid is sorted based on the type of information in the column.
If the column contains text, the information is sorted in alphabetic order. If the column contains numbers, the information is sorted in numeric order. You can sort the content in one of two ways:
● Descending order
Alphabetically from Z to A
Numerically from 9 to 0 (highest to lowest) or least recent to most recent.
● Ascending order
Alphabetically from A to Z
Numerically from 0 to 9 (lowest to highest) or from most recent to least recent.
When you click
the header, a directional arrow on the column points down to let you know
that the information is sorted in descending order. To
switch to ascending order, simply click the column header again. The arrow
on the column header now points up
to indicate .
Suppose you want to sort your Family List records by envelope number. To do this:
Click the Envelope # column.
The
grid updates. A directional arrow displayed on the Envelope
# column points down to let you know that
the records are sorted in descending order (from highest to lowest) by
envelope number.
To sort records in ascending order by envelope number, click the Envelope # column again.
The grid updates, and the records are now sorted in ascending order (from lowest to highest) order by envelope number.
