The Ministry Opportunities page provides a central location for you to view all of the volunteer opportunities available in your church.
Overview of the Ministry Opportunities Page
Following is an illustration of the Ministry Opportunities page. Key elements of the page are identified in the callout links in the illustration below. Place your mouse pointer over a link (without clicking) to view a brief description of the element. For a more detailed description, click the callout link to jump to an explanation later in this topic.
The organization associated with your ParishSOFT login credentials automatically appears in the Organization list, which is located in the upper-right corner of the page.
The Select a Member filter is located on the top left.
The filter contains the name of each member in your family. When you select a family member, the list of ministry opportunities updates to show those the selected member has volunteered to serve in as well as those he or she has not.
In the illustration below, Sandra Askin is the selected family member. For each ministry she volunteered to serve in, the Volunteered column shows a value of Yes.
As your list grows, you will find filtering helpful for focusing on particular information. When used together with the column sort function, the filters let you drill down and see only the records you want to work with. For example, you can filter the list to find out if there is a prayer group ministry or to see if there is a Religious Education ministry group. For details on using the filters, see How to Filter Records.
The toolbar is located under the row of rolodex filters.
The toolbar contains the # Records menu and the Volunteer button:
● # Records menu: lets you change the number of records that are displayed per page. The default is set to 10. To change this value, select an option from the list:
To speed up page loading, select a lower value.
● : displays the Update Ministry Opportunities window. This window lists the volunteer opportunities associated with your church's ministries and shows those you are currently committed to serve in (marked with a check):
The member selection filter controls whose ministry opportunities you are updating.
If your church calls for volunteers or asks you to renew your commitment to volunteer, you can volunteer by selecting the desired ministries. If you can no longer serve in a ministry, you remove a commitment by deselecting the ministry's check box.
You can sort the list of ministry opportunities by clicking any one of the column headers. A sort icon appears to the right of the column name to indicate the column you are sorting on and the direction of the sort. For details on sorting, see How to Sort Records.
You can also move columns of information and change the widths of the columns. For details, see How to Customize the Layout of a Page.
The Ministries list is a complete listing of all of the ministries in your organization that have volunteer opportunities. For each ministry, you can see the group it belongs to and its scheduled events. You can also see whether or not the selected family member volunteers in the ministry.
The page buttons are located at the bottom of the page. These buttons let you quickly navigate to specific pages in the list. If you know which page you want to view, simply click the page number button to go to that page. You can also click to go forward one page at a time or click
to page back one page at a time.
